NFL Scout Delivers Bold Statement on Patriots QB Drake Maye

The New England Patriots clearly have their franchise quarterback in Drake Maye. After a couple of experiments following the departure of Tom Brady, the team is back on the map at the quarterback position.

Last season, Maye led the Patriots to the Super Bowl. They came up short against the Seattle Seahawks, but the future is incredibly bright.

Maye took a huge jump from his rookie season to year two. He was a finalist for the NFL MVP award and showcased more of the superstar ability that was seen in him as a rookie. New England is in good hands with him leading the way.

Throughout the course of the 2025 season, Maye played in all 17 games. He completed 72 percent of his pass attempts for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, while also running for 450 yards and four more touchdowns.

With that being said, one NFL scout is expecting yet another jump from Maye in year three.

NFL Scout’s Drake Maye Outlook Will Make Patriots Fans Happy

One NFL scout who is currently working for an AFC franchise spoke out to Heavy about Maye.

“Drake (Maye) is only 23 years old. He’s not done developing yet, not even close,” the scout said.

“As far as expectations for this season, I think he’s bound for another similar jump. His numbers aren’t going to almost double like they did last year, but there is room for improvement there as well. I expect him to improve as a leader, increase his numbers a bit more, and I think the Patriots could well be Super Bowl bound again.”

Those are some lofty goals and expectations for the young signal caller. However, it has been made clear that Maye is more than capable of handling the hype.

New England Invested Heavily Into Drake Maye This Offseason

Early on in NFL free agency, the Patriots were able to make a big-time addition for Maye. They signed former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

At least for now, Doubs is the team’s replacement for Stefon Diggs. There is still a chance New England could revisit the idea of bringing Diggs back, but it isn’t necessary to do so.

Plenty of rumors have surrounded the Patriots trading for A.J. Brown. There is a wide expectation that they will be able to make that deal sometime around June 1.

If New England can complete a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for Brown, Maye would have one of the best all-around offenses in the NFL at his disposal. Perhaps another leap in year three is incoming.
