Rams’ Jared Verse Drops Truth Bomb on Cooper Kupp Relationship

The Los Angeles Rams were one of the most dominant teams in 2025, but they ended up falling just short of the Super Bowl, as they lost in the NFC Championship Game to the Seattle Seahawks. And yet, while the Rams didn’t win another title, one of their former teammates, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, came out on top as a member of the Seahawks.

Kupp’s split with Los Angeles last offseason was a little messy, as he was clearly upset with the team’s decision to move on from him. He found a home with its NFC West rival, though, and while he did a lot for the Rams during his time in town, he made himself an enemy in the eyes of his former fanbase. If you ask superstar linebacker Jared Verse, though, it sounds like he and Kupp are still on good terms.

Jared Verse Dishes on Cooper Kupp

During his time with the Rams, Kupp turned himself into one of the top wide receivers in the league, and his 2021 campaign is one of the greatest individual seasons for a player at his position in the history of the league (145 REC, 1,947 YDS, 16 TD). With the emergence of Puka Nacua, though, L.A. opted to move on from Kupp last offseason and replace him with Davante Adams.

A first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Verse only spent one season playing alongside Kupp, but he managed to make quite an impact on him. Sure, they didn’t play on the same side of the ball, but Verse quickly learned that, as one of the leaders of the team, Kupp’s voice carried quite a bit of weight in the locker room.

While Adams played well in his first season with the Rams, you can make an argument that the team made the wrong decision to move on from Kupp since he just helped the Seahawks beat his former team in the NFC Championship Game before going on to win a Super Bowl. Verse doesn’t see it that way, though, as he revealed he even told Kupp he was pulling for him immediately after the NFC Championship Game.

“I haven’t gotten to see Cooper in a while since we actually last played,” Verse said in an interview with Ratings. “I told him before they even won the Super Bowl, ‘Go win that.’ He’s like a big brother to me. That’s a real stoic dude. When he talks, you listen. The way he attacks the game and every aspect, he’s going to be successful, no matter where he goes.”

Verse and Kupp may be rivals on the field, but off the field, they remain good friends. Kupp made a major impact during his time with the Rams, and while he never wanted to leave the team, you can bet he enjoyed eliminating them in the playoffs last year. Verse and company will now be aiming to get some revenge in 2026, and they are in a good position to do just that.

With Matthew Stafford returning to action for at least one more season, L.A. is going to have a chance to win every time it takes the field. The Rams have also gotten more support for Verse on defense, as their secondary now features star cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. Kupp may have gotten the last laugh in 2025, but Los Angeles appears poised to emerge as the early Super Bowl favorite for next season.
