Yankees’ Cody Bellinger Elicits Strong Fan Reaction vs. Orioles

New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger easily became the star of the day in the Bronx as he hit two home runs in a 9-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Yankees fan reaction poured in on social media amid Bellinger’s big day, where he went 4-4 for two home runs and two RBI. Bellinger arguably had his best game this season after re-signing with the Yankees for a five-year deal up to $162.5 million in January.

One fan noted via X that Bellinger “really looked everyone who wrote him off and said watch this… this is the version of him the Cubs thought they were keeping in” in 2024. The Cubs, of course, traded Bellinger to the Yankees that year, and Bellinger’s career continued to go strong.

Bellinger had his career-best game last year for the Yankees with three home runs and six RBI on July 11, and Saturday’s performance rivaled that. One fan raved on how easy Bellinger made his home runs look against the Orioles.

“Cody Bellinger said one homer wasn’t enough. Two bombs like it’s batting practice,” the fan wrote via X. “New York Yankees eating good.”

Another fan commented via X that it’s “like he pays rent there” at Yankee Stadium. One fan posted “Bellinger = MVP today” via X.

Bellinger is arguably more at home in Yankee Stadium than in Wrigley Field. Right Field Porch posted that Bellinger has 24 home runs at Yankee Stadium compared to 23 at Wrigley Field. In addition, Bellinger tied Rob Deer for 305th all time in home runs, the Yankees site reported.

MLB.com’s Sarah Langs noted that Bellinger became the second Yankees player since the start of 2025 to post four or more hits and three extra-base hits in a game. Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge did it first on March 29, Langs wrote.

“Well you know who’s getting the belt today,” a fan posted via X regarding Bellinger’s performance and the Yankees’ postgame tradition for the game’s top player.

Bellinger hasn’t posted MVP numbers to date this season. He bats .250 for the year, and he has 16 RBI, 18 runs scored and three stolen bases. His home runs on Saturday marked his second and third for the year.

Cody Bellinger, the New Orioles’ Nemesis

For Saturday, Bellinger was the team’s MVP, and his performance answered one question on Yankees’ fans minds for now.

“Has Bellinger assumed [Torres] Gleyber’s former role of tormenting Orioles? People are asking,” a fan wrote via X.

Gleyber, who played for the Yankees from 2018 to 2024, has a .296 batting average, 107 hits, 23 home runs, 65 RBI and 62 runs scored in 101 career games against Baltimore. He’s in his second season with the Detroit Tigers now since  leaving New York as a free agent in December 2024.

A two-time All-Star, Bellinger could be the Orioles’ nemesis going forward, as Saturday was a start. Bellinger has a .286 batting average with 22 hits, three home runs, 11 RBI and 16 runs in 21 career games against Baltimore.

He hasn’t played the Orioles much since he spent the first eight years of his career in the NL with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2017 to 2022 and the Cubs from 2023 to 2024. Bellinger won NL MVP in 2019 and a World Series in 2020 with the Dodgers, and he won NL Comeback Player of the Year and a Silver Slugger Award in 2023 with the Cubs.
