Could NBA Suspend Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson? New Instagram Story Sparks Debate

Mitchell Robinson just can’t stop trolling. Days after being ejected and fined $50,000 by the NBA, the New York Knicks center is back in the limelight. This time for reposting a similar video that got him fined in the first place.

With New York heading into the second round of the playoffs, fans are now asking an uncomfortable question: could Robinson actually get suspended?

During‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the Knicks’ historically huge 140-89 Game 6 victory, Robinson and Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels were both ejected after getting tangled during a free throw attempt.

Although Daniels was fined $25,000, Robinson’s punishment was increased twice to $50,000 – the NBA clearly citing his “inappropriate post on social media in reference to the incident postgame” as one of the reasons for the bigger punishment.

Robinson uploaded a NSFW trolling video on his Instagram story, which was targeted at Daniels, after their on-court fight. The league, however, explained that Robinson wouldn’t receive a suspension and would still be available for Knicks’ second-round ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌series.

Instead‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ of staying silent, Robinson went a step further and reposted a funny reaction video on his Instagram story. The video had exaggerated facial expressions and “LOL” overlays, which is the similar clip that was linked to his original fine.

The move instantly alarmed Knicks fans who thought that such carefree repost could result in more punishment from the league at the worst possible moment.

While the NBA’s rules explicitly prohibit “mocking and/or ridiculing” opponents on social media, suspensions for social media violations alone remain historically rare, with the league typically responding with escalating fines.

Knicks Fans React to Robinson’s Wild Instagram Move

One fanpage urgently wrote: “Bro Mitchell Robinson just posted the video again on his IG story Does this mfer wanna get suspended game 1???”

Another fan pleaded: “@joshhart please get him to take this down. Can’t get him suspended. PLEASE!!!”

One fan simply stated: “They better not suspend him for this bruh.”

Another fan warned: “I swear if our season gets f***ed up because he gets suspended over this dumb shit.”

One fan quipped about the financial hit: “Son want to be down 200k before this shit start.”

Another fan offered a lighter take, suggesting: “No but a $2,500 fine might be incoming.”

One fan questioned Robinson’s logic, asking: “I don’t get it — can’t he fight it and just say he just likes the video? He didn’t tag anybody.” It’s a fair point, Robinson never tagged Daniels directly in the repost, which could complicate the league’s ability to act further.

Another fan simply laughed it off: “Someone doesn’t care about his fine.”

Robinson’s bold move has only added fuel to an already fiery narrative heading into Round 2.
