New York Mets Announce Roster Move On Newly Acquired 2-Year MLB Player

On Wednesday afternoon, the New York Mets will host the Washington Nationals for the finale of their series.

They are coming off a 14-2 loss on Wednesday.

That said, the series is tied up at 1-1.

Earlier this week, the Mets claimed Eric Wagaman off of waivers from the Minnesota Twins.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote (on April 27): “The Mets, after releasing schedule that manager Carlos Mendoza will talk to the media at his usual time Tuesday, announce that OF Austin Slater has signed one-year contract to replace OF Tommy Pham, who’s designated for assignment, and claim IF Eric Wagaman from the Twins.”

The Mets have now called up Wagaman ahead of Thursday’s game against the Nationals.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com wrote: “Lots of roster moves for the Mets today. In addition to Luis Robert Jr. to the injured list, the team DFA’d Carl Edwards Jr. and called up infielder Eric Wagaman (whom they recently called off waivers) and reliever Austin Warren.”

Wagaman’s Career

Wagaman was picked in the 13th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

He has spent part of two seasons in the MLB playing for the Los Angeles Angels and Miami Marlins.

Over 158 career games, the 28-year-old is batting .250 with 11 home runs, 63 RBI’s, 62 runs and four stolen bases.

Mets Right Now

The Mets are in the middle of a very tough season despite their high-profile roster.

They come into Wednesday as the last-place team in the National League East with a 10-20 record in 30 games.

Following the Nationals, they will head to Los Angeles for a series with Mike Trout and the Angels that starts on Friday night.
