She later confirmed the breakup in a statement to TMZ. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward,” Megan said.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith became one of the loudest voices defending Thompson amid the fallout. While not excusing cheating, Smith questioned why Megan went public at all.
“The public at large did not know this man’s business at all — until Saturday night,” Smith said. “He is not a whatever. He is Klay Thompson. He is the other half of the Splash Brothers.”
