On Sunday, the New York Yankees lost their series finale to the Houston Astros by a score of 7-4 (in Texas).
Luis Gil had a tough outing, as he allowed six earned runs and three walks in 4.0 innings.
Directly following the game, the Yankees announced the news that he would be sent to Triple-A.
The Yankees wrote (via X): “Following today’s game, the Yankees optioned RHP Luis Gil to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.”

After the news, Gil sent out a heartfelt post to X that had over 700 likes.

The 26-year-old has gone 1-2 with a 6.05 ERA in four games this season.
He is in his fifth MLB season (all with the Yankees).
