Warriors Go For Broke in Outrageous Trade Proposal That Lands Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Golden State Warriors will be trying to land another superstar player to help Stephen Curry. After losing in the play-in, Golden State will be looking at all scenarios to help with that objective. Trades and free agency will be the way they are able to accomplish this.

At the trade deadline, the Warriors sniffed around possibly adding Giannis Antetokounmpo. Instead, the Bucks decided to keep him. Now that the offseason is here for both teams, offers for Antetokounmpo will be coming heavy, and Milwaukee will sift through them.

A trade proposal from Bleacher Report would see Golden State add Antetokounmpo, but also give up a star player in return.

Trade Proposal sees Warriors add Giannis Antetokounmpo

Here is the full trade proposal:

The Golden State Warriors receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Milwaukee Bucks receive: Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski, 2026 1st-rounder, 2027 first-rounder, 2030 protected first-rounder, 2032 protected first-rounder

Parting ways with Butler would certainly hurt after the Warriors decided to bring him in at the trade deadline last season. When both he and Curry are on the court, they are a very good team. Injuries, including Butler’s torn ACL, have prevented them from sharing the court long enough.

Trading four first-round picks is a hefty price, but Golden State is desperate to win a final title with Curry on the roster. He has a couple of years left at an elite offensive level, and that’s if he is able to be healthier than he was this season. Curry played in just 43 games this season.

Antetokounmpo was even less available, playing in only 36 games. He has started to become fragile, especially at the end of the season. Last season was the first playoff run he was healthy for in three seasons. Trading that much draft capital, along with Butler and Podziemski, is a massive risk.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the Biggest Swing Golden State Can Take

Antetokounmpo will not be the only superstar that the Warriors chase this summer. If they can’t land him, they will move on to Kawhi Leonard or LeBron James. Last week, Zach Lowe mentioned on his podcast that he fully expects Golden State to do just that.

Figuring out the future of Steve Kerr as the head coach will also need to be figured out before any roster moves are made. There is a chance that he does not return to the Warriors next season. He likely won’t coach another NBA team if he doesn’t come back. He would likely return to television.

Kerr has been tied to Curry almost for the entirety of his coaching career. Adding Antetokounmpo into the fold would certainly get him excited to return to Golden State. That would give him a chance to win a fifth title as a coach, putting him in rarified air.

Golden State will have to win a bidding war for Antetokounmpo over multiple other teams trying to trade for him.
