New York Mets Predicted to Cut Ties with Carlos Mendoza After Horrid Start

How much can you really blame a manager for managing a team with a $371 million payroll and still underperforming? After the Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora, the rumors and speculation of who could be next in Major League Baseball are swirling loudly.

After the New York Mets lost their weekend series with a loss on Sunday to the Colorado Rockies, New York is 9-18, and staring 9-19 in the face as I’m writing this. In a recent article for FanSided.com, the Mets are predicted to fire Carlos Mendoza in the coming days.

Per FanSided.com’s Christopher Kline, the Mets could be the next MLB organization to fire their manager:

“The Mets lost 12 straight before Juan Soto’s return and a couple wins over Minnesota, but New York — much like Philadelphia — is fighting an uphill battle against historical precedent when it comes to getting back in the postseason race. This also comes after a monumental collapse in 2025, which saw the Mets’ uber-expensive lineup completely melt down over the final month of the campaign.”

Whether Mets fans like it or not, wholesale changes need to be made, and while the struggles can be pinned on David Stearns, Stearns won’t be getting fired; instead, there needs to be another scapegoat, similar to the Red Sox situation.

You can point to the injuries as another reason, but at this point in the MLB season, all 30 teams have been dealing with injuries this season, and there are plenty of talented baseball players on the Mets roster, including a strong pitching staff.

When Do the Mets Pull the Plug on Carlos Mendoza?

GettyThe New York Mets are in freefall mode, which could lead to them potentially parting ways with an unexpected trade candidate.

The thing about these Carlos Mendoza rumors is that, unless the Mets do a complete 180-degree turnaround, Mendoza is still likley to be fired; it’s just a matter of when.

It’s still the first month of the season, so there’s, of course, a lot of baseball left to be played, but Mets fans have to be very irate with how the season has gone to this point, and it’s probably to the extent no return.

New York has the likes of Freddy Peralta, Bo Bichette, Juan Soto, Nolan McLean, Luis Robert Jr., plus many more capable players, but instead, they are the worst offense in baseball, and that should either fall on the manager or the hitting coach.
