Following the Phoenix Sunsâ Game 2 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the star guard Devin Booker ranted about a technical foul call against him, and went as far as calling out an official by name.
The NBA reacted as expectedâBooker was hit with a fine.
âItâs definitely something that has to be looked at. I heard (Alex) Caruso tell them to call the tech and he ended up doing it. In my 11 years, I havenât called a ref out by name, but James (Williams) was terrible tonight, through and through,â Booker said after the game.

âItâs bad for the sport, bad for the integrity of the sport. People are going to start viewing this as the WWE if theyâre not held responsible. I know I havenât won a championship in this league, but I have been in it for 11 years now, so to get to this point to be treated like that, for me to even be saying something out loud, itâs bad. Itâs my first time in 11 years, but itâs needed. Whatever, I get fined for it, everybody can pull the clips and see where the frustration comes from.â
When the NBA released its official statement regarding the $35,000 fine for Booker, it was noted that the technical foul he was hit with was rescinded. Booker reacted to the news after the Sunsâ Game 3 matchup against the Thunder on Saturday afternoon.
