Former Dolphins $99 Million Talent May Return to NFL

The Miami Dolphins currently lack talent at many positions. One of their most glaring needs is the wide receiver position. This offseason, the Dolphins released All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill as he is still recovering from a dislocated knee, and traded Jaylen Waddle in exchange for draft capital.

So far this offseason, the Dolphins have not made any major moves to replace either of those two players. They signed former second-round pick Tutu Atwell, and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Tolbert; however, while they have had successful seasons, neither have ever been a focal point of an offense or could be characterized as difference-makers unlike Waddle or Hill.

Now, a new report has listed that a former Miami Dolphins player that has not played since being released by the team may be returning to the NFL.

New York Giants Host Former Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. worked out for the New York Giants, as he aims to return to the NFL. Beckham Jr. has not been on an NFL roster since being released from the Dolphins during the 2024 season, where he failed to make much of an impact behind Waddle and Hill.

Beckham appeared in nine games for the Dolphins and totaled a career-low 55 receiving yards without scoring a touchdown. He was then released during the season as the Dolphins’ third receiver role had gone to rookie receiver Malik Washington.

Beckham previously expressed his desire to return to the NFL, as he told Kay Adams he’s, “looking forward to hopefully getting an opportunity to play this year, and hopefully, this is kinda just a starting point.” This comes after Beckham participated in a flag football event by Fanatics.

The veteran wide receiver did not sign with a team during the 2025 season, but was suspended six games by the NFL for a PED violation. If the Giants do sign him, not only would it mark a reunion between Beckham and the Giants, a team he spent the first seasons of his career with, but also a reunion between him and head coach John Harbaugh, who coached him in Baltimore prior to Beckham joining the Dolphins.

Beckham has totaled over $99 million in career earnings, according to Spotrac.

Miami Dolphins Wide Receivers

If Beckham Jr. does not sign with the Giants, the Dolphins would most likely not be a possibility as the team is looking to get younger at the position.

Instead, the expectation is that Miami will address that position during the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. One insider revealed the Dolphins may add two receivers within the first three rounds of the draft. And a new mock draft has predicted that the Dolphins will add a player who has drawn comparisons to Detroit Lions Pro Bowl wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

NFL.com’s writer Gennaro Filice released his mock draft, in which he predicted that the Miami Dolphins would select USC wide receiver Makai Lemon with the No. 11 selection. Filice wrote:

“Handing Malik Willis a mid-tier quarterback contract made business sense to me. But if the Dolphins want the 26-year-old to flip the switch from intriguing prospect to franchise player, they need to give him some arrows in the quiver. After trading away Jaylen Waddle, Miami has a receiving corps that is fronted by Malik Washington, Tutu Atwell and Jalen Tolbert. Makai can give Malik a versatile target who plays much bigger than his 5-foot-11, 192-pound size.”
