Detroit Pistons Get Bad News After Game 1 Loss vs Magic

On the morning after the Game 1 loss against the Orlando Magic, the Detroit Pistons found out that one of their front office members is gaining some attention from their division rival, the Chicago Bulls.

After putting together another disappointing season, the Bulls decided to cut ties with the two men leading their front office operation in Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley.

As the Bulls search for the long-term replacement, a few names have been linked to their President of Basketball Operations job.

via Shams Charania, ESPN: The Chicago Bulls have started the search process for their new head of basketball operations, receiving permission to interview Minnesota’s Matt Lloyd, Detroit’s Dennis Lindsey, Atlanta’s Bryson Graham, Cleveland’s Mike Gansey and San Antonio’s Dave Telep, per ESPN sources. The Bulls are also expected to speak with the co-head of CAA’s basketball division, Austin Brown, regarding the vacancy, sources said.

The Pistons Could Lose Dennis Lindsey

With success comes the risk of losing core members of the organization.

Following another impressive season, the Pistons are finding out that their Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations Dennis Lindsey has garnered interest from Chicago. Since the job is a promotion, the Pistons can’t do much to prevent the poaching.

Lindsey got his start in the NBA in 1996 with the Houston Rockets. He was a video coordinator and a scout, slowly working his way up in the front office. He received several promotions over time, with his highest rank being Assisant GM.

In 2007, Lindsey joined the San Antonio Spurs as the Assistant GM. In 2012, the Utah Jazz picked up Lindsey, naming him the General Manager.

The Pistons pulled a similar move as the Bulls back in 2024. The team cut ties with Troy Weaver and put together a long search for a new President of Basketball Ops. They landed on Trajan Langdon, who came from the New Orleans Pelicans.

Lindsey joined Langdon’s staff ahead of the 2024-2025 NBA season. Coming off a 14-win season, the Pistons had one of the most impressive turnarounds in NBA history. They made the playoffs last year with the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. This year, they are No. 1 in the East.

There’s no guarantee that the Pistons could lose Lindsey, but he’s certainly at risk. This is just the start of potential organizational changes with the front office and potentially the coaching staff, as the Pistons find more success in the league.
