Saints Fans Believe They Can Do Better than Front Office, Study

It’s not uncommon for NFL fans to criticize their favorite team’s management, especially after questionable moves. New Orleans Saints fans are not the exception.

However, a new study shows that Saints don’t just question the team’s front-office moves. Fans believe they would actually do a better job.

A study conducted by casino.org revealed just how much fans believe they have better evaluation skills than current GMs. Those evaluation skills are even more crucial now with the 2026 NFL Draft around the corner.

Specifically, 79.2% of Arizona Cardinals fans consider themselves more apt to do a better job than current GM Monti Ossenfort. In contrast, just 37.1% of Seattle Seahawks fans consider that they could do a better job than their incumbent GM.

What about Saints fans?

Well, the data shows New Orleans fans clocking in at 69.8%, thinking they could do a better job than current GM Mickey Loomis.

That’s an interesting figure, considering the Saints are eighth on the list. The New York Giants, who had a dreadful season in 2025, are slightly ahead of the Saints at 71.0%. The study consisted of a survey involving over 2,000 NFL fans.

With the 2026 NFL Draft set to begin next Thursday, New Orleans fans will have an opportunity to criticize or praise the Saints’ brain trust for their first-round selection. The Saints hold the 8th overall pick.

So, it remains unclear in which direction the Saints head at this year’s draft.

Saints’ 1st-Round Selection Largely Depends on Teams Ahead of Them

The Saints have a specific player in mind, per ongoing chatter. As covered here on Heavy, New Orleans has its eye on receiver Carnell Tate out of Ohio State. However, that pick isn’t a slam dunk.

Taking Tate will depend on what teams ahead of New Orleans do. According to Tankathon, the Cleveland Browns are likely to land Tate with the 6th overall pick. If that were the case, the Saints would have to assess what philosophy they would like to follow.

For one thing, the club could be looking to take the best player available. That could be one of David Bailey or Rueben Bain Jr. Either EDGE would suit New Orleans’ defensive game very well.

Otherwise, the Saints may consider taking the next-best offensive player available to fill a crucial need.

New Orleans Could Target Second-Best Receiver on the Board

If the Saints do miss out on Tate, the club could pivot to the next-best receiver in the class. That would be Jordyn Tyson out of Arizona State.

The 21-year-old registered 61 catches for 711 yards and eight TDs in nine games this season. That was actually down from last season, when he played in 12 contests, making 75 receptions, and racking up 1,101 yards to go with 10 TDs.

Tyson would be a fine pick for the Saints if their desire is to beef up the team’s receiver core. The signing of Travis Etienne Jr. pretty much solidified the backfield. That’s why focusing on taking the best available receiver could become the Saints’ main target, regardless of what teams in front of them do.
