The New York Mets have lost nine consecutive games after a 12-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon.
They have not won a game since April 7, when they defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3, and now sit at 7-13, which is good for last place in the NL East. It’s pretty clear New York misses the services of Juan Soto, who should return to the lineup next week.

The offense is the obvious thing to blame, because New York is clearly lacking a lot of little things like getting on base, drawing walks, and, of course, hitting home runs.
The pitching has been fine in most of the losses, but in the last two games, the Mets’ pitching staff has given up 20 runs, and that’s the last thing that the organization needs to falter at this moment.
