It’s not 100% clear that the Detroit Lions are in on the potential Dexter Lawrence sweepstakes. But if they are, they received a positive development this week.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday night the New York Giants “have reached an impasse” with Lawrence. Rapoport then suggested the Giants could agree to a trade involving the 2-time second-team All-Pro lineman over the next week.
“The Giants have engaged with teams on a potential trade and that will continue,” wrote Rapoport on X. “It should come to a head before the Draft.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on April 6 that Lawrence requested to be traded from the Giants. The defensive lineman is in the middle of a 4-year, $87.5 million contract.
Lawrence has been through two offseasons of negotiations without landing a new deal.
