Atlanta Braves Quietly Made One Of The Best Signings In The MLB

On Tuesday night, the Atlanta Braves played the Miami Marlins (at home) in Georgia.

The Braves won by a score of 6-5.

Dominic Smith finished with three hits and four RBI’s in four at-bats.

Smith is in the middle of his first season playing for the Braves.

He signed with the franchise over the offseason.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote: “Dominic Smith, who signed a minor league contract in late March with Atlanta that pays just $1.25 million in the big leagues: .395 batting average 1.099 OPS”

Based on what he is being paid compared to other MLB players, Smith was one of the best signings in the league.

He is currently batting .395 with 15 hits, three home runs, 15 RBI’s and nine runs in 14 games.

Smith was picked in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

He is in the middle of his tenth season, also having stints with the New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds.

The Atlanta Braves wrote (on March 28): “Dominic Smith is the first player in MLB history to hit a walk-off grand slam in his team debut, per Elias.”

Smith came into the night batting .251 with 72 home runs, 303 RBI’s and 272 runs in 769 career games.
