Amid the arrival of the NBA playoffs, Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball has the attention of fans, prompting plenty of speculation about if the guard has a girlfriend. Ball’s Instagram page is mostly full of posts about basketball, his Puma signature shoes, dogs and other business ventures.
Noticeably absent is any mention of a love interest. Publicly, Ball’s most recent girlfriend is Ana Montana, but her Instagram page is also absent of any recent posts about Ball.
As recently as 2025, Ball was spotted on one of Montana’s livestreams hilariously searching for food.
“LaMelo Ball and Ana Montana have been publicly linked since late 2021, and their relationship has been a hot topic ever since,” Yahoo Sports detailed in an April 8, 2025, story titled, “LaMelo Ball Goes Viral for Begging Girlfriend Ana Montana for Food During Livestream.”
“Between their age difference, social media fame, and court-side glamour, fans have always been curious about what really goes on behind the scenes.”
Prior to this relationship, Ball’s dad, LaVar Ball, had an interesting warning for his sons about dating as an NBA player.

The Ball family has long been in the spotlight. Ball’s brother, Lonzo Ball, is a former highly touted NBA draft pick before injuries complicated his career.
LiAngelo “Gelo” Ball played basketball as well but is now better known for his musical career. Ball’s dad, LaVar, made headlines by revealing that the Hornets star has a son named “La One.” Ball’s father is already planning on training his grandson to be a basketball player.
“If I raised you three killers in the backyard, what you think I’m going to do with a gym in the back?” LaVar noted in the “Ball in the Family” podcast in March, per Complex Sports.

Back in 2020, LaVar also received backlash for telling his sons they would not meet their wife while playing in the NBA. LaVar detailed the complications of dating as a professional athlete.
“That’s what I said (not going to meet wife in the NBA,” LaVar detailed in a November 26, 2020, interview on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast. “Here’s the thing. You have to understand this.
“There’s two ends of the spectrum. Sometimes where it’s good on this end, you don’t see where it’s bad at this end. Here’s my thing, which I always say. It’s fun in the beginning, but it’s pain in the end, whatever you do,” LaVar added.
“… How are you going to meet the same girl if you’re traveling your whole career of playing a sport? Now, the thing is, you’re making all this money and you’re young. So people Googling you and coming up to you acting like they don’t know you. So how are you going to meet them?”
For now, it appears Ball is attempting to lead the Hornets on a compelling playoff run.
