He has thrown 16 strikeouts in 16 innings.
Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game wrote (on March 27): “Chris Sale officially passed Warren Spahn on the MLB All-Time Strikeout list. He’s 30th all alone and now chasing down another #Braves Hall of Famer.

Sale’s MLB Career
Sale has had a Hall of Fame level career.
The 37-year-old spent the first seven seasons of his career playing for the Chicago White Sox, making five MLB All-Star Games in that span.
Following Chicago, Sale played six seasons for the Red Sox.
Despite struggling at the end of his tenure, he made one All-Star Game and helped the franchise win the World Series (2018).

Sale had a major resurgence with the Braves, winning the Cy Young Award in his first year playing for the franchise (2024).
He is coming off back-to-back trips to the All-Star Game.
Dan Kelley wrote (on December 12, 2025): “It feels worth noting that in the final year of the five-year extension Chris Sale signed with the Boston Red Sox he won the Triple Crown, Cy Young Award, Gold Glove Award, Comeback Player of the Year, and was on the MLB 1st Team. (unfortunately it was with the Atlanta Braves)”
Braves Right Now
The Braves come into Sunday’s matchup as the first-place team in the National League East with a 9-6 record in 15 games.
They are 5-3 in the eight games they have played at home.
