Former Eagles Star Claps Back at NFC East Rival Over Super Bowl Diss

Sometimes it’s better to just not say everything that’s on your mind. It’s a good lesson for all of us in our day-to-day lives, and an especially good lesson for NFL stars in the offseason as they try to keep their Q ratings up by appearing on any podcast that will have them.

We got a shining example of how bad this can go this week when Washington Commanders edge rusher Charles Omenihu appeared on the Speakeasy podcast and gave us all an inside glimpse into his mind — something no one really asked for or wanted.

For some reason, Omenihu decided to take shots at 2 of the most powerful entities in the league — Baltimore Ravens quarterback and 2-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and the entire Philadelphia Eagles organization — specifically the Eagles team Omenihu and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates were blown out by in Super Bowl LIX following the 2024 season.

He claimed the San Francisco 49ers team he was on that lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl following the 2022 season was better than the Eagles team that routed the Chiefs in the Super Bowl following the 2024 season.

One of the stars and leaders on that Philly team, safety Darius Slay, didn’t take kindly to Omenihu’s comments and clapped back in epic fashion.

“Yea buddy tripping yall ain’t stand a chance!” Slay wrote on his official X account. “How u go talk like that and we took the starters out. Could’ve put 50 on them boys frfr.”

Eagles Fans Remind Omenihu of Meltdown

Eagles fans, as could be expected, were quick to remind Omenihu of his emotional sideline meltdown during the Super Bowl loss — he was famously filmed crying his eyes out on the sideline in the 4th quarter.

“Had to be babied on the bench cause the belt was STINGING child please lmaooo,” Eagles fan Slimm wrote on their official X account.

“Bud, you were CRYING,” Eagles fan George Basile wrote on his official X account. “Kenny Pickett was taking snaps while you were CRYING.”

“Bro was caught in 4k crying tho,” Philly Talk Podcast wrote on its official X account.

Bizarre Comments About Lamar Jackson

Omenihu’s shots fired included a couple of strays for Jackson.

Omenihu signed a 1-year, $7 million free-agent contract with the Commanders in March but spent the last 3 seasons playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, including a Super Bowl win following the 2023 season — a year in which the Chiefs went on the road to defeat the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

“Lamar, honestly, you bring a 5-man rush on him and collapse that pocket, he’ll make a play that isn’t the best for the Ravens,” Omenihu said. “The league hasn’t figured out (Buffalo Bills quarterback) Josh Allen yet. They’ve figured out Lamar Jackson.” 

Jackson, who is coming off arguably the worst season of his career in 2025, seemed to respond to Omenihu’s comments on Friday.

“Instead of trying to bring me down, ask GOD to bring you up,” Jackson wrote on his official X account. “#JESUSCHRISTKINGOFKINGS”
