Blue Jays Expected to Call-up 31-HR Weapon Amidst New Injury & Twins Finale

The Toronto Blue Jays have had a mixed start to the 2026 MLB season. Injuries haven’t been kind to them. This has led to many call-ups in addition to new signings. Patrick Corbin and Eloy Jimenez are two such players.

One was signed to give the Blue Jays another starter while Trey Yesavage and Jose Berrios work their way through a series of rehab starts. This has left them with a rotation of Dylan Cease, Kevin Gausman, Eric Lauer, and Max Scherzer.

The Blue Jays are expected to make a move or two prior to their series finale against the Minnesota Twins later today, April 12th, 2026. In addition to a call-up report, here are some predictions for today’s series finale, along with the latest on George Springer.

Toronto Blue Jays Expected to Call Up Big Bat

A new report has surfaced about who will be called up to replace Springer. Mike Rodriguez claims that the batter will be Jimenez.

According to my sources… Eloy Jiménez has been called up to the Major Leagues to replace George Springer, who suffered an injury to one of his toes,” Rodriguez wrote. “The last time Jiménez played in MLB was in 2024.”

Jimenez played for the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox back in 2024. In 98 games, he collected six home runs, 23 RBIs, 77 hits, and three stolen bases between the two teams.

The 6-foot-4 slugger had his best season to date when he was a rookie. In 2019, he put together a 31-HR, 79-RBI, 125-hit, .513 SLG season for the White Sox

Eloy Jimenez to Replace Injured George Springer

It is expected that Jimenez will replace Springer in the lineup.

The latest on Springer is that he is expected to undergo a CT scan soon. Keegan Matheson reported on this recently.

“Springer is now undergoing a CT scan after the Blue Jays’ 7-4 loss to get a fuller diagnosis,” Matheson wrote. “Which will play into whether he needs an IL stint and how long that could potentially be.”

Matheson then said that Jimenez was an option to consider if Springer were to miss a good chunk of time.

“Eloy Jiménez is off to a strong start and was one of the Blue Jays’ best hitters in Spring Training,” Matheson continued. “Throughout March, it was clear that there wouldn’t be room on the roster for Jiménez, given that Springer was the primary DH and first base was occupied by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Kazuma Okamoto. Any absence from Springer could be the exact opening Jiménez would need to see playing time.”

Jimenez is off to a solid start with the Buffalo Bisons. In 11 games, he has recorded one home run, five RBIs, nine hits, and a .371 slugging percentage.

Twins vs Blue Jays: Game 3 Predictions

The three-game series is knotted at 1-1 heading into Sunday’s contest. The Blue Jays took the first game, 10-4, and the Twins followed with a 7-4 win on Saturday.

DraftKings Network predicts that the Twins’ starting pitcher (Taj Bradley) will continue his great season on Sunday by limiting the Blue Jays’ bats. They also predict that Scherzer will struggle in this start and only complete two to three innings.

They also predict a Twins victory.

Alternatively, Sports Chat Place is predicting the Blue Jays to win. Given the injuries Toronto has sustained, combined with the pitching prowess of their opposition’s starter, it’s fair to call this game a true 50-50 opportunity.
