Phoenix Suns Make Jalen Green Injury Announcement Ahead of Lakers Game

It has been a tough first season with the Phoenix Suns for Jalen Green. He has played only 32 games due to multiple injuries that began in the offseason.

The Suns acquired Green from the Houston Rockets as part of the Kevin Durant. They also received Dillon Brooks and Khaman Maluach in the trade.

Green is averaging 17.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He’s shooting 42.2% from the field, 31.3% from 3-point range and 74.7% from the free-throw line.

In the Suns’ 112-107 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, Green suffered a right knee injury.

The Suns are to visit the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena on Friday night. They are already locked into the No. 7 seed in the NBA Play-In Tournament, so the outcome of this game has no bearing in any way.

However, it would be great to have plenty of momentum heading into the play-in. They will likely target a win against the Lakers, as well as against the Oklahoma City Thunder in their regular-season finale on Sunday.

According to the Suns’ official injury report, Green has been listed as questionable ahead of the Lakers matchup. He’s been diagnosed with a sore right knee, which means he’ll be evaluated before tip-off. He’s either getting upgraded to available or downgraded to out.

What Happened to Green?

Four minutes into the first quarter against the Mavericks, Green left the game due to a right leg injury. He was seemingly grabbing his right hamstring, which he has strained twice already this season.

Speaking to reporters after the game, coach Jordan Ott provided an update on Green’s injury, as well as on Jordan Goodwin, who also left the game early after spraining his left ankle.

“I think I don’t know about imaging, but they (medical staff) just said right knee (for Jalen) and left ankle for Goodie, they tried to both come out, back in they just weren’t able to do it,” Ott said, via Sports Illustrated.

It was a good sign for the Suns that both players wanted to return in the second half. However, the franchise had to lean on the side of caution, especially for Green, who has missed 48 games this season already.

In addition to Green, the Suns have also listed Devin Booker, Haywood Highsmith and Goodwin on their injury report. All three players are sidelined for the game due to different reasons.

Booker and Highsmith are getting rest due to right ankle and right knee injury management, respectively. Goodwin, as mentioned earlier, suffered a sprained ankle in their previous game.
