Aaron Gordon Idea Gets Strong Push Back From Denver Nuggets Fans

The Denver Nuggets took care of business against a struggling Memphis Grizzlies team on Wednesday night (April 8).

Denver won with a score of 136-119.

The veteran forward Aaron Gordon checked in for 22 minutes. He had a quiet night on the scoring front. Gordon shot 2-6 from the field and scored six points. He also had six assists and two rebounds.

Lately, Aaron Gordon has been under a microscope as he’s been battling some physical setbacks. It hasn’t been enough to take him off the court in recent weeks, but it’s something on the mind of fans as the NBA Playoffs approach.

Following Wednesday night’s win over the Grizzlies, a Nuggets fan wondered why Gordon wouldn’t be “put on ice” until the postseason.

Here’s how the fan base responded on Reddit:

“I don’t know if you noticed, but he only played 22 minutes tonight. Keeping him in basketball shape without overworking him issues ideal. Better than shutting him down,” BRAX7ON said.

“Momentum. We’re clicking at the right time if AG just decides to sit out if could ruin chemistry. Jones and PWat are a different story because they can play well without Jokic they don’t really need chemistry,” imaginingsalt stated.

“Not playing for 10 days and going into playoff intensity basketball probably isn’t as helpful as you think,” Lynch47 said.

“Because he is rusty, staying healthy is a must, but we must shake some rust off. And you can only do that with playing time. Also, we need to condition him for the heavy minutes in the playoffs. Playing him 20-25 mins now is better than resting him, then suddenly putting him in playoff games for 40 mins,” OyeCorazon added.

“Don’t want to kill the momentum. If you’ve ever trained for a race or any other competition, you know you need to be smart about your recovery time. Too much and you start to lose your fitness and focus…” whatabouttheotherguy said.

“Dudes missed a good portion of the season with injuries. He’s now healthy, 30, in the prime of his career. Let him ball,” said BuddhaRockstar.

The 2025-2026 NBA season is reaching the finish line. If all goes as expected, the Nuggets will wrap up the year as the No. 3 team in the Western Conference.

There is no question that the Nuggets are contenders. They might not be the favorites, but if all goes right on the health front, they could be the biggest threat to the teams in front of them.

There are pros and cons to putting a player on ice. The obvious pro is lowering the risk of injury over the next two weeks.

But as many suggest, it’s difficult to disrupt a team that’s firing off 10 wins in a row before making the playoffs. There are risks on both sides. Clearly, the Nuggets are making the choice that most fans agree with.
