Man slain in Garfield Park neighborhood apartment

A Thursday autopsy found a 31-year-old man was fatally assaulted in a Garfield Park neighborhood apartment and his death was ruled a homicide, officials said.


Police found Davonta F. Curtis, 31, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head inside a home in the 3100 block of West Madison Street about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Chicago police said.

Curtis, who was pronounced dead on the scene, died of multiple blunt force injuries during an assault according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Curtis, whose death was ruled a homicide, was of the 2600 block of South Kedvale Avenue, the office said.


Detectives are investigating.
