Spurs Get More Bad News vs Blazers After Victor Wembanyama Update

The San Antonio Spurs are set to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, April 8.

Coming off a dominant win against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Spurs still trail the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference standings by 3.0 games.

Their matchup on Wednesday gets a little more challenging as the Spurs have ruled out multiple key players on the injury report ahead of the action.

The veteran guard, Stephon Castle, is among those who are going to be sidelined for the game, as he deals with right knee soreness.

The Spurs Have Key Names On The Injury Report

Castle isn’t the only name on the Spurs’ injury report on Wednesday night.

Since the Sixers game, the Spurs have been worried about the status of their superstar center, Victor Wembanyama.

During the action, Wembanyama went down with what was later considered a rib injury. The big man underwent multiple tests on Tuesday. The diagnosis was promising and suggested the Spurs weren’t going to be forced to rule out Wembanyama for the rest of the season.

However, they have to remain extremely cautious going forward.

via Chris Haynes on X: Sources: San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama (rib contusion) underwent a clean MRI and avoided a serious injury. He will be ruled day-to-day moving forward.

In addition to Castle and Wembanyama, the Spurs will be without David Jones Garcia, who is out due to right ankle surgery. As for Emmanuel Miller and Harrison Ingram, they are listed as available on the injury report for Wednesday’s action.

The Spurs and the Blazers are slated for a 9:30 PM ET tip on Wednesday night.
