Ex-Steelers WR Signs With Rival After ‘Second Thoughts’: Report

Wide receiver Lance McCutcheon appeared content to retire this offseason. Instead, he’s returning to the Tennessee Titans for another season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported McCutcheon agreed to a 1-year deal with the Titans.

“Former Steelers and Titans WR Lance McCutcheon, who had announced his retirement earlier this offseason, had second thoughts and is now signing a 1-year deal with Tennessee, sources say,” wrote Rapoport on X.

“An intriguing resolution for the 27-year-old and a new opportunity.”

McCutcheon joined the Steelers practice squad in October 2024. After a month on the squad, though, the team released McCutcheon.

The receiver re-joined the Steelers in March 2025. He opened the 2025 campaign on the team’s practice squad before signing with the Titans in September.

McCutcheon last appeared in an NFL regular season game with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022. He’s also spent time with the Houston Texans and New York Jets.

In 10 games during 2022, McCutcheon received five targets but didn’t catch a pass. He played 56 offensive snaps and 110 snaps on special teams.
