Lindsey Graham Slammed for Saying Iran War “Best Money Ever Spent”

Sen. Lindsey Graham

MAGA-aligned U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared on Fox News to discuss President Trump’s decision to launch a massive military bombing campaign against Iran. Host Maria Bartiromo asked the Senator for his take “on all of this,” and how he’s going to defend the war to taxpaying Americans.

Bartiromo said: “A billion dollars in day. Oil prices up 27% in a week. You’ve got the president wanting a $1.5 trillion defense budget in ’27. The idea that the Pentagon is about to come to you for $50 billion on these strikes to Iran. How are you going to answer?”

Graham answered: “Best money ever spent.” He added, “What’s it worth to America to take down a religious Nazi regime who’s trying to build a nuclear weapon to deliver to America. That’s a really good investment.”

Note: According to several polls, including the latest PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, the majority of Americans — 54 percent — “disapprove of how President Donald Trump is managing the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran” and 56 percent “oppose the military action outright.” Note: 44 percent said they think Iran poses a “major threat” to the U.S., 40 percent a “minor threat” and 15 percent said “no threat at all.”

Critics of Graham and Trump including billionaire Frank Giustra, co-chair of the International Crisis Group, who replied: “And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how empires go broke. Time and time again.” Liberal influencer Joanne Carducci also replied: “He said this to Zelensky too, before he bent over for Trump and stopped giving them aid.”

Graham’s leading Democratic opponent in 2026, Dr. Annie Andrews, is trying to use Graham’s comments against him as she runs to “end his career in November.” She said Graham has “an insatiable appetite for war.” She added, “I don’t want my kids or your kids to die fighting Lindsey Graham’s next war.”

Republican influencer Meghan McCain, whose late father, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) worked with Graham in the Senate, also chimed in on Graham’s purported jingoism: “I’ve known Lindsey Graham since I was a child. I am imploring anyone who will listen in the Trump administration to stop sending this man out as a surrogate. He is scaring people and doing damage to whatever message you’re trying to sell to the American public about the Iran war.”
