Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Tia Helmy, Carlmont basketball

Carlmont basketball player Tia Helmy is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Feb. 16-21.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Helmy finished with 43.2% of the votes. South San Francisco wrestler Khloe Meisenbach took second at 38%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Helmy scored a team-high 21 points by hitting seven 3-pointers in a 62-48 CCS Division I playoff win against Palo Alto on Saturday.
