Yankees Trade Pitch Would Flip Jazz Chisholm to NL Team

Throughout the course of the MLB offseason, New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm has been talked about as a potential trade candidate.

While the rumors have swirled around the 28-year-old infielder, he remains on the roster with spring training underway. It seems likely that he’ll begin the 2026 MLB season on the roster, but a trade before the deadline could still be possible.

If the Yankees were to place Chisholm on the trade block, there would likely be quite a few teams with interest in him.

Chisholm has been known as a flashy player throughout his young career. His potential is through the roof and he has been a productive player, but has never quite lived up to his talent level.

That being said, a new trade pitch has been suggested that would see New York trade him away.

New York Yankees Linked to Potential Jazz Chisholm Trade With Braves

On SI’s Mark Morales-Smith suggested a potential trade in an article on February 19 that would send Chisholm to the Atlanta Braves.

In his trade idea, the Yankees would ship Chisholm to the Braves in exchange for second baseman Ozzie Albies and right-handed pitching prospect Jhancarlos Lara.

New York has been linked to quite a few infield options this offseason. Trading away Chisholm for Albies would be an interesting decision.

During the 2025 MLB season with Atlanta, Albies played in 157 games. He hit 16 home runs to go along with 74 RBI and 14 stolen bases, while also producing a slash line of .240/.306/.365. Adding another pitching prospect in Lara would sweeten the deal.

Are Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara Dating?

At the end of the day, the question becomes, would trading Chisholm for Albies actually improve New York’s chances of winning a World Series? That’s a highly debatable question.

Looking Closer at What Jazz Chisholm Brings to the Table

Chisholm put together a solid all-around season in 2025 for the Yankees.

He played in 130 games on the year, batting .242/.332/.481 and stealing 31 bases. Chisholm also hit 30 home runs and drove in 80 RBI.

On the surface, the numbers are eerily similar between Chisholm and Albies. However, there is a slight edge that goes to Chisholm due to his base-running ability and power. Albies is a solid player, but this move would be a lateral trade for New York.

Brian Cashman and the Yankees should be looking for moves that upgrade the roster. This isn’t one of those moves.

It’s an interesting idea, but a trade shouldn’t be made just to make a deal. Unless Chisholm becomes a problem in the clubhouse, this would not be an ideal scenario for New York if it chooses to move on from him.
