Seahawks’ Mike Macdonald Gets Good News in NFL Offseason: Report

The Seattle Seahawks have lost a few offensive assistants this offseason since winning the Super Bowl. But head coach Mike Macdonald scored a nice coaching staff victory Thursday.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the Seahawks are promoting assistant Justin Outten to run-game coordinator.

The Las Vegas Raiders previously requested to interview Outten for their run-game coordinator opening. But Fowler reported on February 13 the Seahawks blocked the interview.

With that move and the promotion, Outten will stay on Macdonald’s staff in 2026.

Outten began his NFL coaching career 10 years ago. His decade of experience includes one season as Denver Broncos offensive coordinator in 2022.

Last season, which was his first with Seattle, Outten served as Seahawks run game specialist and as the team’s assistant offensive line coach.
