Bears Get Brutal Outlook on Raiders’ Maxx Crosby Amid Rumors

Trade speculation surrounding Las Vegas Raiders‘ Maxx Crosby continues to swirl with every NFL team now in offseason mode. Recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported in an article published on Feb. 7 that a few teams are interested in Crosby.

“The reality is the Raiders are still far away from significant winning, and the trade interest in Crosby is incredibly robust,” Fowler wrote. “In fact, I believe more than a dozen teams, possibly up to 20, will at least inquire with levels of serious intent.

“And there are some natural would-be contenders, including the Bills, Lions, 49ers, Cowboys and Ravens. One team that typically doesn’t jump in these high-stakes waters but would be perfect to try: the Buccaneers. This is the type of move that would put Tampa Bay over the top.”

Nonetheless, whether these teams can put together a package that entices the Raiders to trade their star pass rusher is another thing. One team that Fowler didn’t name was the Chicago Bears.

Moreover, the Big Ten Network’s Anthony Herron was on 104.3 The Score in Chicago and believes that the Bears won’t make a trade for Crosby because of the financial implications.

“My concern is how much of your cap space, by percentage, can you continue to invest in the defensive front to go get someone like Maxx Crosby?” Herron said on Feb. 9. “The amount of financial wherewithal that you would now have invested into the D-line, to me, seems like it negates that potential.

“Whether you’re talking Maxx Crosby or even when Myles Garrett was demanding a trade, there are certain names that have a dollar value that, to me, is likely beyond where the Bears can go with their current D-line situation.”

Another Report Emerges on Maxx Crosby’s Future With Raiders

The latest news emerging on Crosby and his future with the Raiders came from Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom.com. La Canfora reports that Crosby had a tense conversation with Brady and made it clear that he’s done playing for the Raiders.

“He told Tom Brady he will never play for the Raiders again,” an unnamed general manager told La Canfora. “That’s a fact. He told them he’ll retire before he ever plays for them again. But I’m not sure they’re actually going to trade him. Myles Garrett said the same thing last year, and we know how that ended up.”

Maxx Crosby Dismisses Speculation About His Future

Nonetheless, amid the speculation, Crosby broke his silence on the matter during a Feb. 6 appearance on “The Herd.”

“It’s funny,” Crosby told host Colin Cowherd. “I’m glad you brought it up, because it’s like, damn if you do, damn if you don’t. For me, in the past, I’ve learned that being too vocal and too involved with trying to make, I want this coach, or I want this. I’ve learned my lessons, and I’ve learned from that. That’s not my job…

“But you can’t control everything. I’ve learned that. Now that I’m quiet, now I’ve got random people making big statements for me. They’re like, ‘Oh, Maxx must have told them this.’ For me, I just sit back and laugh, because I know my truth. When I go to bed at night, I have a smile on my face because I don’t have to explain nothing to nobody.”
