Man dies after being found shot in Washington Park

A man who was shot Thursday night in Washington Park died early Friday at a hospital.

Officers responded about 8:40 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the first block of East Garfield Boulevard, where they found the 31-year-old lying on the ground unresponsive, Chicago police said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

He was pronounced dead about 1 a.m. Friday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His name hasn’t been released.


No arrests have been reported.
