Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams are preparing to face the Chicago Bears in the NFC Divisional Playoffs, but their roster remains a long-term focus as well.
LA is fairly healthy heading into Sunday’s weekend-ending contest against the Bears, on the road at Soldier Field. Still, they saw areas where they could improve their future, namely by securing the services of two players they are already familiar with.
So, the Rams got proactive in addressing potential holes on their roster.
Rams Lock In OL Prospect for Roster Before Facing Bears

The Rams announced in a post on X on January 15 that they “Signed to Reserve/Future contracts,” including offensive lineman Wyatt Bowles.
Bowles has been on a back-and-forth journey with the Rams. The Rams signed Bowles after the draft as a free agent, but he joined the Arizona Cardinals in free agency after the Rams waived him in December. The Cardinals waived Bowles on January 12.
He has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Bowles has yet to see the field in his budding NFL career, but Rambin’ Rams’ Brent Stuter called him an “under-the-radar” prospect.
“He never heard his name called out in an NFL draft, but he has been outperforming many who did,” Stuter wrote in August 2025. “He’s earned a roster spot, but there might not be any open spots remaining for him to claim.”
That remains the case for this postseason, but the Rams want Bowles on their roster.
Rams Agree to Deal With ‘Dynamic’ Playmaker

In addition to Bowles, the Rams also plan to add wide receiver Mario Williams to their roster, a shifty playmaker who NFL Draft Buzz’s Andrew Moore noted could be limited by his size.
The rookie UDFA is listed at 5-foot-9 and 178 pounds.
“A dynamic slot weapon with the potential to impact the game in multiple facets, Williams brings instant juice to an NFL offense. His elite short-area quickness and route-running acumen project well to the pro game, particularly in offenses that emphasize quick-hitting passes and yards after catch,” Moore wrote before the draft.
“Offensive coordinators who can create mismatches and get the ball in his hands quickly will maximize his talents. His ability to uncover against zone coverage and make plays in space could make him a valuable chain-mover and third-down weapon.”
Like Bowles, Moore failed to get into any regular-season games this season after the Rams released him from injured reserve in August.
Rams Facing Encouraging Reality

The Rams’ current roster is heading into Sunday’s tilt looking to earn their first trip to the NFC Championship Game since their Super Bowl-winning 2021 campaign.
However, the reality is that their future is just as bright as their present. The Rams have a pair of first-round picks in the 2026 draft. Moreover, Over The Cap projects them to have north of $63 million in cap space during the 2026 offseason.
Some of that will go toward extending players, such as third-year wide receiver Puka Nacua.
The Rams can also create more space by reworking existing contracts or parting ways with some of their more expensive veterans on their roster.
