SAN JOSE – San Jose police on Tuesday announced an arrest in a mid-March shooting that sent a man to the hospital.
Officers were called to the 800 block of North 4th Street just before 8:15 p.m. on March 15 for a report of an attempted homicide, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release. They arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were later determined not to be life-threatening.
Hernandez said officers discovered a bullet had penetrated a nearby home, but no one else was injured.
Detectives identified the suspect as Gabriel Alvarado-Ochoa and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Alvarado-Ochoa was arrested in Los Angeles on March 25. The following day, he was extradited to Santa Clara County and booked into jail on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, Hernandez said.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
