Catalina/Santa Barbara Islands, Malibu and Los Angeles County Beaches are under a high surf advisory which was released by the National Weather Service on Friday at 5:10 a.m. The advisory is in effect until Saturday, Mar. 29 at 11 a.m.
The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA adds to prepare for, “Large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet with sets to 10 feet and dangerous rip currents.”
“There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore,” according to the NWS. “Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly locations in such conditions, so stay off the rocks.”
