DALLAS — The Ducks had a third-period lead on the road but had to settle for one point instead of two.
Mikael Granlund’s second goal of the game – 2:32 into overtime – gave him 600 career points and lifted the Dallas Stars to a 4-3 come-from-behind win against the Ducks on Tuesday night.
Defenseman Thomas Harley had a goal and two assists and Wyatt Johnston also scored and Roope Hintz had two assists for the Stars (43-21-3, 89 points), who have won eight consecutive home games for the first time since January-March 2006. Jake Oettinger made 22 saves.
Leo Carlsson scored two goals, one on a penalty shot, and rookie Nikita Nesterenko scored for the second consecutive game for the Ducks (29-31-8, 66 points), who dropped to 2-5-1 in their past eight games. Lukas Dostal stopped 27 shots.
Dostal made a save on Hintz midway through overtime and tried to poke the puck away from in front of the crease, but it went to Granlund in the slot, and he shot it into the net. Granlund has three goals and 11 points since being acquired from San Jose on Feb. 1.
Harley scored on a one-timer from the slot off a feed from below the goal line by Jamie Benn to tie the score, 3-3, at 4:37 of the third period. Harley has six goals and 19 points in 17 games since standout defenseman Miro Heiskanen was sidelined Jan. 28 with a knee injury.
The Ducks were getting outshot 4-1 when Johnston deflected Harley’s point shot into the net while on a power play to give the Stars a 1-0 lead at 11:42 of the first period.
The Ducks were outshot 9-2 in the first period, even with the benefit of two power plays.
Nesterenko tallied on a deflection to tie it 1-1 at 2:48 of the second.
The Stars moved ahead 2-1 at 4:25 of the middle period when Granlund squeezed the puck between Dostal and the near post from a sharp angle.
Carlsson tied the score, 2-2, at 13:03 of the second on a goal with seven seconds left in a five-on-three penalty. The goal was initially disallowed after Ryan Strome took a shot from in close and continued to swipe at the puck after it squeezed through Oettinger’s pads and drifted toward the goal line.
Carlsson pushed it across just as the referee behind the net waved off the goal for goalie interference on Strome. The Ducks challenged that there was no interference, and upon review, the referees agreed and awarded the goal to the Ducks.
Carlsson was then awarded a penalty shot after he was hooked by Oskar Back on a partial breakaway with 39.1 seconds left in the second period. The Swedish center, 20, slipped the puck past Oettinger for a 3-2 lead. He has four career multigoal games, two in the past 18 days.
Oettinger made a point-blank blocker save on Jackson LaCombe with 6½ minutes left in regulation.
Mikko Rantanen, acquired March 7 from Carolina, made his American Airlines Center debut after playing his first four Stars games on the road and had two shots and won both faceoffs.
Dallas improved to 3-17-2 when trailing after two periods. The Ducks are 18-2-3 when leading after two.
