Boy, 13, slain on West Side identified

A 13-year-old boy who was found shot to death early Monday in a North Lawndale neighborhood backyard has been identified, officials said.

Officers on patrol found Amari Williams on the ground unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head around 2:10 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of South Kildare Avenue, Chicago police said.

No 911 calls or calls of shots fired were received but police believe Williams, who was declared dead on the scene, was shot there.
