SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks recalled defenseman Luca Cagnoni, one of the AHL’s top scoring defensemen, from the San Jose Barracuda on Tuesday.
Cagnoni, listed at 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, has been an offensive dynamo in the AHL this season 47 points, including 34 assists, in 56 games with the Barracuda in his first year of professional hockey.
The 20-year-old Cagnoni, a native of Burnaby, British Columbia, was a fourth-round draft choice by the Sharks in 2023. In his last season with the Portland Winterhawks, Cagnoni had 90 points in just 65 regular season games, becoming the first WHL defenseman in over 30 years to record at least 90 points in a season.
