One of the first things center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong did in Tokyo, thanks to an off-day last Thursday, was explore Shibuya, a bustling part of the city sometimes compared to New York’s Times Square.
“Shopped a little bit,” he recounted during the Cubs’ workout Friday at the Tokyo Dome. “Probably going to head back there after this. But got some sushi, went and sat at a little bar and watched it all be made.”
It took me a few days longer to make my way over to that area. But on a drizzly Sunday morning, before the Cubs’ evening exhibition game against the Yomiuri Giants, I had a similar itinerary: shop and eat.
I also put my tourist hat on at the famous Shibuya Crossing, and snapped some photos of the sea of umbrellas.
