Mudslides close PCH in Pacific Palisades/Malibu area

The burn scar areas from the Palisades fire have triggered mudslides due to recent rainfall, resulting in an immediate hard road closure for community safety, authorities announced Friday.

The order was administered Friday afternoon for the following locations following several mudslides in Malibu:

— PCH from Carbon Beach terrace to Chautauqua

— Las Flores Canyon Road at Southbound Rambla Pacifico

— The 3400 block of Southbound Tuna Canyon

Sheriff’s officials stated that the road closures and reopening are subject to change as investigators continue to monitor roadway conditions.

“Please pre-plan your drive and use alternate routes,” the department said in a statement. “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we ensure the public’s safety.”
