Nintendo San Francisco store set to open at Union Square on May 15

Downtown San Francisco has needed a power-up since the pandemic, and that could be on the way with the opening of an official Nintendo Store slated for May 15.

The video game maker announced plans to launch a second outpost in the U.S. last year and since then, Bay Area fans have been eagerly anticipating it. The new store will be at 331 Powell St. in a storefront facing Union Square.

Nintendo San Francisco will obviously sell the company’s games and systems. The spot will likely be ground zero for fans wanting to snag the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Beyond that, Nintendo will also sell accessories, apparel, home goods and souvenirs that are only available at the location, according to a news release.

Nintendo is holding a My Nintendo x Nintendo San Francisco Sweepstakes that fans can enter. It offers a chance to win a trip to the grand opening with two guests to experience a three-night, four-day trip and tour of the store and launch. You can enter here.
