Stephanie Magnien Rockwell has been appointed chief of staff to Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka.
She replaces Erica Calhou,n who has been promoted to deputy executive director of Finance and Administration at the port.
Rockwell will manage special projects, act on executive and administrative matters, provide executive-level staff support and represent the port with Los Angeles city officials and other stakeholders. The port’s Internal Audit Division will also report directly to her.
Seroka praised Rockwell for bringing “a highly diversified set of skills and experience” to the position. Before coming to the port, her work history included serving as principal project coordinator with the Office of the City Administrative Officer in Los Angeles.
She also held positions with elected officials, including the offices of state Assemblymember Judy Chu, former Los Angeles Councilmember Jan Perry and Councilmember Bob Blumenfield.
Rockwell joined the port staff in 2018 in the Contracts and Purchasing Division and went on to serve as the legislative representative in the Workforce and Government Affairs Division, where she was the port’s liaison to Los Angeles City Hall. In that role, she was responsible for providing legislative, policy and operational support for port priorities.
She has a bachelor’s degree in international relations with a minor in business from USC and a master of public administration from Cal State Northridge.
