Rockies Recap: Ryan Feltner strikes out five in 8-1 loss to Marlins

On the mound: Ryan Feltner had a good day, allowing only one hit and striking out five Marlins players in 3 2/3 innings of work. He walked three and brought his spring training ERA to 3.38. … Zach Agnos, a non-roster invitee, allowed two hits, including a J.P. Crawford homer, in 1 1/3 innings. … Scott Alexander threw one scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out Rowdy Tellez. … Jake Woodford took over in the bottom of the sixth inning and things began to fall apart for the Rockies. The Mariners blasted Woodford for four runs (all earned), including a Jacob Nottingham homer, in a single inning. Suddenly, Colorado faced a 5-1 deficit. … Angel Chivilli entered the game in the bottom of the eighth to close things out, and things just got worse for the Rockies. He allowed three hits that turned into three runs when Luis Suisbel homered on a fly ball to center field, scoring Nick Dunn and Colt Emerson in the process.

At the plate: The Rockies had six hits but struggled to turn them into scores. Colorado’s only run came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Nolan Jones singled on a groundball to Victor Robles, allowing Ezequiel Tovar to score. … Kyle Farmer went 2 for 3 and is hitting .381 this spring. … Seven Rockies struck out, including two K’s for Jordan Beck.

Prospect watch: Colorado announced Sunday that it was reassigning right-handed pitcher Gabriel Hughes to minor league camp. The club has 47 players remaining in major league camp, including 12 non-roster invitees.
