An autopsy is planned Thursday for a Chicago woman who died after being struck by a Cook County sheriff’s officer’s vehicle Tuesday morning in Glenview.
Officers responded to the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday ater Mercedes Smith, 28, was hit by the squad car, Glenview police said.
Smith, a Near West Side resident, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was pronounced dead there at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The Glenview Police Department is investigating.
