New Uber Shuttle service to offer fans leaving the United Center $5 rides

Navigating the large crowds and traffic after events at the United Center may become a little easier with Uber’s new shuttle service.

Uber Shuttle, which is now available, will offer fans leaving the arena rides to various stops across the city for only $5.

Instead of waiting to find a ride after leaving the arena, riders will be able to reserve a seat on a shuttle using the Uber app up to two days before an event, an Uber spokesperson said. Riders can book up to four seats at a time.

Fans can board the shuttle at the Uber Zone (Lot E) at their designated time.

The buses, which seat up to 23 passengers, will ferry passengers to the Magnificent Mile, Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Old Town — though routes may change.

“We’re thrilled to bring Uber Shuttle to the iconic United Center, making it even easier for fans to get to and from their favorite events in Chicago,” said Anthony le Roux, general manager of Uber Shuttle, in a statement. “We’re committed to offering convenient and affordable transportation options, and we look forward to bringing Uber Shuttle to Chicago’s concerts, games and shows.”

However, the shuttle service will not replace Uber rides. If shuttles are booked up, fans can still request an UberX ride using the app.

The United Center is the first NBA and NHL venue to offer Uber Shuttle.

“Expanding our successful partnership with Uber to pilot the Uber Shuttle program — the first of its kind at an NBA/NHL arena — is an exciting next step in enhancing transportation options for our fans,” said Joe Myhra, executive vice president and chief operating officer at the United Center.

“Offering a dedicated shuttle option after games and select special events reinforces the United Center’s commitment to providing innovative and convenient travel solutions to and from the arena.”

Uber did not comment on how long the introductory rate would last.
