Los Angeles Lakers Forward LeBron James Named Western Conference Player of the Month

The NBA has awarded Los Angeles Lakes forward LeBron James Western Conference Player of the Month at the age of 40.

The NBA awarded James Player of the Month after the Lakers went 10-2 in the month of February, behind his averages of 29 points, 10.5 rebounds, and almost 7 assists in 11 games. James, in this time, has helped the Lakers navigate injuries, Luka Doncic’s return to conditioning, and lack of size in the front court to help the Lakers to help them currently secure the second seed in the West and a 38-21 record.

Setting another longevity record, LeBron is officiall the oldest player in NBA. At 40 years old, no other player in NBA history has been named Player of the Month beside James. In spite of being in his 21st NBA season, the legenndary forward has defied time and is playing in one of his best seasons and helping to lead the Lakers to the NBA playoffs.

James, drafted at 18, is curretly averaging almost 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists while shoooting nearly 52% from the field. This statline is unprecedented for an athlete his age, especially considering he’s been in the NBA longer than he hasnt been in the NBA.

The Lakers are seeing a resurgence this season after a timultous first half. While learning a new system under first year head coach and former NBA player JJ Redick, the Lakers also had to navigate the shocking NBA blockbuster trade that sent veteran forward Anthony Davis to the Dalla Mavericks and Luka Doncic to the Lakers. Even losing their best defensive player in Davis hasnt seen the team miss a step, as the Laker have played suffocating defense and have routinely outplayed opponents with the new superstar tandem.

James and the Lakers look to continue their winning ways into March, where the new look Lakers aim to solidify their hold on the second seed in the Western Conference, which is especially tough with 2 games separating the 2-5 seeds. The Lakers are in a virtual tie with the Denver Nuggets, and the race is tightening up with the season drawing to a close.

The Lakers will face the New Orleans Pelicans on March 4th as they try to extend their winning streak to 7 straight games. Both Luka and LeBron should be available for the game, as the star wings will mesh and get ready for the playoffs. LeBron continues to set records in his 21st NBA season, with LeBron being one point away from being the first player in NBA history with 50,000 career points.
