A Cicero man accused of fatally shooting a woman over the weekend is facing murder charges.

Bobby Thornton, 35, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 35-year-old woman, Chicago police said.

Officers responding to a well-being check Sunday found the woman with a gunshot wound to the arm about 6 a.m. in the 7600 block of South Ingleside Avenue, police said.

She was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Her name hasn’t been released.

A firearm was found at the scene. Thornton was placed in custody about 20 minutes after the shooting, police said.

Thornton appeared at a detention hearing Tuesday.
