Woman critically hurt in Austin hit-and-run

A woman was critically hurt when car during a hit and run Monday night in Austin on the West Side, according to Chicago police.

The woman, 68, was crossing the street in the 5400 block of West North Avenue at 7:57 p.m. when a sedan going westbound hit her and fled the scene, police said.

She suffered lacerations to her face and fractures in her legs, and was taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition.

No one is in custody and the police Major Accident Unit is investigating.
