Antioch: Authorities make arrest in fatal shooting

ANTIOCH – A suspect was arrested last week in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month in Antioch, according to authorities.

On Feb. 20, federal and local authorities served a search warrant at an undisclosed address in the city, Antioch police Lt. William Whitaker said in a news release Monday.

Demundre Walton, 27, was arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting Jacob Frank Hernandez, 23, according to Whitaker. He is facing charges of murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Evidence related to the shooting was also collected from the home and a vehicle, Whitaker said.

The shooting happened around 10:25 p.m. Feb. 12 at Hillcrest Avenue and Larkspur Drive. Officers arrived to find Hernandez suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
