Man arrested for taking security guard’s gun, firing shots on the Near West Side

A man was arrested after taking a security guard’s weapon and firing it as he was being removed from a property, according to Chicago police.

A 57-year-old security guard was escorting a 23-year-old man off of a property in the 1300 block of South Racine Avenue at 9:05 a.m. Saturday when they got into a “physical altercation,” police said. The younger man hit the older man in the face and took his gun, firing shots; no one was injured.

Chicago police and SWAT responded and arrested the man, police said. Charges are pending.
