Five people — including three children, all younger than 8 years old — were found dead in a Lake Station, Indiana, trailer Friday afternoon, according to local police.
Lake Station police responded to a requested welfare check in the 6700 block of 9th Avenue at 2:44 p.m. Friday and found the five dead, police said. Officials said they believe it was an “isolated” incident and there’s no threat to the public.
Briana Payne, 27; Aurorah Payne, 7; Ava Payne, 6; and Alayna Payne, 4, were all found dead of gunshot wounds, according to the Lake County, Indiana, coroner’s office. Their deaths were all ruled homicides.
Robert Payne, 31, also died of gunshot wounds, according to the coroner’s office. His manner of death has not yet been determined.
An investigation is ongoing.
